Lima should do well. Daniel Walton returns as a sophomore who played varsity minutes (started part of the year). Tony Schimmoeller should be back as well, as he also started the majority of the season. The much hearlded Freshman class will be interesting to see as some will move up to varsity action, while some will play JV and work their way up the system. There are a couple of kids who played JV who should help varsity, one of them is James Kelly, hes about 6'4 and a wide body who can take up space.

Bottom line, Gaff will have this team in contention for the GBC title. They lose ALOT with Lyles, cooks, & Smith graduated, but they will do well

On a side note and I know i started the thread on this, but congrats to JV coach Chris ****erell on getting the Allen East job.

Of course they will be in contention for the GBC, and they better keep winning the GBC.  There isn't a high level of competition in the conference.  Our problem is the Toledo teams and Mansfield Senior.  Those teams are as well coached as the Spartans, and they have more athletes.  They also have confidence.  Lima Senior will be solid this year, and maybe even better next year and the year after.  Some shooters better emerge out of that freshman class though.  Gaff likes to have alot of guys come off screens so you better be able to shoot.  Our inside game is physical but very inexperienced and not very tall at all (nobody over 6'5").  But they are going to work hard and that will win some games, just outworking teams.  Nobody in the conference thinks they can beat Lima Senior so that is a gimme.  GBC Champs, Sectional Champs, and hopefully District champs is what the expectation should be.

I had a chance to see some of the Lima kids play in the Findlay Gusmacker 3-on-3 event last weekend, and they are missing one thing, understanding how to win.  They are developed with drills, they have the heart, and they have talent, but they just don't know what it takes to win.  The younger kids are doing better with this, but the older kids are going to have to figure out what it takes to win and then just do that, not worry about who the star is.  I don't care if one guy scores all the points... if we win, and if that's what the goal is, then I'm happy.  They don't seem to be happy unless we all score and we all handle the ball.  They have to find other ways to feel like they are contributing if they are gonna be successful.  That has to be taught before they get to Lima Senior though.    They took 4 teams up there and three of them won their division so maybe I'm complaining for no reason.
